Questions people ask
Why is bigha not in the list?
Because a bigha is a different size in different states, so a single factor would be wrong for most readers. Square yard, which is the gaj, is standard and is included, as are acre, hectare, guntha and cent. For bigha, use your own state's conversion.
Is a gaj the same as a square yard?
Yes, the gaj used in Indian property listings is the square yard. Nine square feet make one. The factor used here is the exact international one rather than a rounded version.
Which units are exact and which are rounded?
The relationships between metric units are exact by definition, and so are the inch, the foot, the yard and the pound, which were fixed by international agreement. The tool stores those exact factors. What you see rounded is only the display.
Can I convert between different kinds of measure?
No, and nothing can: a length cannot become a weight without knowing what the thing is made of. The tool keeps each measure separate for that reason. For a volume of water to a weight, you would need the density as well.
