Image to PDF
Turn photographs into one PDF, a page each, assembled in your browser rather than on a server.
Image to PDF
In short: Image to PDF
Image to PDF builds the PDF in this page, so the photographs and the file you get back both stay on your device. A JPEG is placed into the document without being decoded and re-encoded, which means the picture keeps exactly the quality it had when you took it.
What is Image to PDF?
Image to PDF writes each picture onto its own page of a new PDF, sized to the page you choose and centred inside the margin.
How is Image to PDF calculated?
Each picture is scaled to the largest size that fits inside the page once the margin is taken off, keeping its shape, and then centred. Choosing to fit each image instead makes the page itself the shape of the photograph.
- W_boxthe width of the page inside the margin
- H_boxthe height of the page inside the margin
- W_imagethe width of the picture in pixels
How to use this image to PDF
- Choose the pictures, or drag them onto the box.
- Pick a page size, or let each page take the shape of its picture.
- Set the margin if you plan to print it.
- Save the PDF, which was written here rather than downloaded.
Questions people ask
In what order do the pictures appear?
In the order you chose them, one picture to a page. Renaming the files so they sort the way you want them is the easiest way to control it. Choosing them again replaces the set rather than adding to it.
Does this reduce the quality of my photographs?
A JPEG is copied into the PDF untouched, so it keeps exactly the quality it had. A PNG or a WebP has to be converted to JPEG first, because that is the format a PDF can carry directly, and that conversion is done at a high quality setting.
Why is the PDF so large?
Because it holds your photographs at full resolution, and a modern phone camera makes large files. Running the pictures through Image Compressor first, then building the PDF, gives a much smaller document. For a form with an upload limit that is usually the right order.
Is this the same as scanning?
Not quite. This places the photograph as it is; Scan to PDF also brightens the paper and deepens the ink so a photographed page reads like a scan. For a document, use the scan tool; for pictures, use this one.
