An age in years, months and days is the calendar difference between a date of birth and a later date, counted the way a person counts it.
How is Age calculated?
Count the whole years between the two dates, then the whole months after that, then the days left over. When the day of the month has not yet come round, a month is borrowed from the year and the days are counted from the length of the previous month.

Questions people ask
How is age calculated in years, months and days?
By counting calendar units rather than dividing days by an average month length, which is why the answer matches what you would work out yourself. Whole years come first, then whole months, then the remaining days. A month that has not completed is borrowed from the year above it.
What happens with a birthday on the twenty-ninth of February?
In a year without that date, the tool counts the birthday as not yet reached until the first of March. That matches how most forms and systems in India treat it. Your own documents may say otherwise, and they are what counts officially.
Can I work out an age on a past or future date?
Yes, change the second date to any date you like, before or after today. It is how you check the age someone will be on an exam date or a cut-off. Setting it before the date of birth tells you the person is not born yet.
Does the result depend on my time zone?
No. Both dates are treated as plain calendar dates with no time attached, so the answer is the same everywhere. That is what you want for an age; it is not what you want for a timestamp, which the timestamp tool handles instead.
