Questions people ask
Where does lorem ipsum come from?
It is a scrambled passage from Cicero's writing on ethics, cut up and altered by typesetters centuries ago. Nobody intends it to be read, which is exactly the point. The opening line is the most recognisable part of it.
Why use Latin instead of real text?
Because readable text pulls attention to the words rather than the design, and a client reviewing a layout starts editing copy instead of judging the page. Placeholder text keeps the focus on spacing, rhythm and type. It also avoids showing content that is not approved yet.
Why does the same request give the same text?
The generator is seeded, so it repeats exactly rather than producing something new each time. That means two screenshots of the same layout are comparable, and a mockup rebuilt tomorrow looks the same as it did today. Change the count to get different text.
Should I ship placeholder text?
